Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 May 2026

This policy explains what personal information Tautoru collects, how we use it, and what your rights are. It applies to the website at tautoru.ai, including the Whakatere guide, and any related services operated by Tautoru AI Limited.

Who we are

Tautoru AI Limited is a New Zealand company and the agency responsible for personal information collected through this site. You can contact us, including about any privacy matter, at contact@tautoru.ai.

You can read the guide anonymously

You do not need an account, and you do not need to give us any personal information, to read Whakatere. We do not require sign-in to access the guide.

What we collect

  • Your email address, if you give it to us by joining the subscriber list for updates.
  • Cookieless analytics, via Vercel Analytics — aggregate information about visits (page views, country, referring site). It does not set cookies, does not track individuals across sessions, and does not collect personal identifiers.
  • Basic server logs, kept by our hosting and DNS providers for security and reliability — for example IP address and browser type. These are standard operational records, not used to build a profile of you.

How we use it

Your email address is used only to send you news about Tautoru. We do not use it for any other marketing. Analytics and logs are used only to understand how the site is performing and to keep it secure and available.

Cookies and tracking

The site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and the analytics we use is cookieless by design. If we ever add tools that set cookies or track you (for example Google Analytics), we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, seek your consent first.

Where your information is stored

Our providers operate global infrastructure, primarily in the United States. By sending us your email details you consent to your email address being transferred to and stored outside New Zealand for the purpose of operating these services, consistent with information privacy principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address only while you remain on the subscriber list. If you ask to be removed, or if the project is discontinued, we delete it. Server logs are kept only for a short period by our providers in the ordinary course.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of that information if it is wrong; and
  • request that we delete it.

To exercise any of these, email contact@tautoru.ai. We will respond within 20 working days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Visitors from the European Union

If you access the site from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation may apply. Where it does, our legal basis for processing your email address is your consent. You have the same rights of access, correction and deletion described above, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The site is general-audience information and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the subscriber list.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at tautoru.ai/privacy, with the “last updated” date at the top.
